Visit evasi0n.com and choose your operating system. I chose to download from the box.com mirror. Total download time was about 60 seconds. Currently the iPhone 5 jailbreak is available for Windows, OSX and Linux. For this DIY walk-through I will be using windows. Download the .zip file and save it in a location you will remember, we will come back to it. If you do not have a un-zip program here is a great free one:
Back up your iPhone. If you do not already have iTunes installed download the latest version (at the time of writing this article version 11.02) you can download it here: apple.com/itunes
When you open iTunes you will be prompted to update to the newest version, do so.
Once the iTunes update is complete, plug in your iPhone via USB and update it to iOS 6.1.2.
accept the terms of the update.
and accept the user agreement.
it will take 10-15min for the update to complete.
and now that your update is complete it is time to install the jailbreak.
Step 3: Turn off the lock on your iPhone.
Step 4: Backup your iPhone
Step 5: Install envasiOns jailbreak.
Head to your internet download directory and double click on the .zip jailbreak file you downloaded earlier.
once the file opens in your zip utility, go ahead and double click on the .exe file to install the jailbreak.
while the jailbreak installs do not use your iPhone or computer.
When the installer prompts you click the jailbreak icon on your iPhone. It may not appear to respond, DO NOT click the button again, be patient.
on your iPhone select the Jailbreak button:
Once you select the jailbreak app be patient as the jailbreak installs, it may take up to 5 min.
Once the jailbreak has unpacked and installed you should have a app called Cydia available to you.
And there you have it, your iPhone is now jailbroken! Be sure to avoid apple iOS updates as they will most likely cause your phone to require a restore, loosing your jailbreak.
