ReMap “My Videos” Button to media browser

Parts Express – WBT Audio Connectors

If you have a universal remote, or a MCE remote and would like to remap the keys, here is a quick solution:

First download and install Intellirremote. Install as directed

Then: go to [HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Extensibility\Entry Points]

scroll down the list of folders and look at the context row on the right side, under the data column you will see somethin along the lines of C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\StartupFolder\Movies.vf (thats my movies folder)

now open notepad and copy the string from the appid row now on the right side copy the name of the folder you are in (right click on the folder, click rename then copy the name)

paste this string further down on the notepad far enough so you will remember the difference

Next we need to create a shortcut for the part of media browser we want to open from the remote, I am going to remap my Movies folder to the Videos button on my remote. go to whatever folder u want the shortcuts in, right click new and then shortcut. In the “location of the item” box enter the following

%windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe /nostartupanimation /entrypoint:{AppId}\ {Entrypoint folder name}

(no space after the \ between the appid and entry point name, the forum hides it if i dont put a space)

paste the appid strong from the notepad in the spot where AppID is and paste the name of the folder in the Entrypoint folder name location

the final outcome will be

%windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe /nostartupanimation /entrypoint:{ce32c570-4bec-4aeb-ad1d-cf47b91de0b2}\ {8a3819c2-a0a2-4855-8961-b169de907d39}

(no space after the \ between the appid and entry point name, the forum hides it if i dont put a space)

then change the “Start in:” box to read C:\Windows\ehome

now go into inteliremote, customize, and click on the button you want to remap. go to the script event box, check to box and paste CommandLine(“C:\Media Center Programs\movies.lnk”, “”)

into the box (change it to the location and name of your shortcut)

hit learn code hit the button on the remote u want to map it to hit apply changes your all done

also if u go straight into mce this way, hitting the back button will still take u to the mce homepage.

in order to use buttons that were already mapped you have to disable the ehtray application. This can be accomplished by going to :\windows\ehome and renaming ehtray.exe to something else (first you have to take ownership of the file) so that it will not load and media center will not launch automatically. Media center will still work when launched manually.
